After making the crocheted horses and with how adorable they came out – I had to make another animal.
One of the girls at work was pregnant when I made the horses and made an offhand comment about how her baby would love a crocheted horse – so I decided to surprise her.
2015 is the year of the sheep – so I found a pattern for a lamb on Etsy.
I used the same yarn that I did for the horses, since it worked so well – and the lovely fact that it’s both washable and dryable.
The sheep took quite a bit longer to make than the horse. The fleece pattern in the body and head is part of the crochet pattern – called a bobble stitch. Each stitch is actually 5 stitches – so it took about 5 times as long to make. Sigh.
The first one I made (yes, I made two) came out a bit larger than it probably should have been as I wasn’t pulling the bobble stitches tight as I completed them. I learned on the first one and made the second one a little more tight. They both looked fine – it just came out kind of large.
Once I completed the first lamb I brought it to work and surprised my co-worker. She was shocked and totally appreciative. It is totally adorable.
After making that sheep, another co-worker asked if I would make one for her friend who was having a baby– as a commissioned project.
The second sheep is still sitting on her desk at work. She thinks its too cute to give to her friend yet. Lol.
Ah very nice! I haven’t attempted making a lamb or anything yet. Hope to try soon!
You should definitely give it a try! They are so much fun to make! And SUPER cute to boot!
These are gorgeous – I have 3 kids if you are up for it 🙂
